West Lothian League

MURIESTON 3 v 3 DUNIPACE

Scorers: Scorers: Learmonth, Moodie, M.Kane (pen)

It was back to League business for the Wee Pace and an eventful game it was. Murieston took a 2 goal lead the 2nd resulting from a mix up between David Kane in goal and defender Blair Reid. Dunipace got back into the match close to half time when a Moodie cross was neatly back heeled over the outrushing keeper by Learmonth.

Half time saw Dunipace change formation to 3-5-2 and this gave them more control in the middle of the park. As they dominated most of the half it was a matter of time before they equalize and it came from a Tweedie shot that came off the keeper and Moodie was on hand to put the ball into the net. Dunipace were to go 3-2 up with 5 mins left when Morris netted from a goalmouth scramble but as they celebrated the Ref signalled for offside and Murieston broke upfield and scored.

Dunipace players were less than happy with the refs decision and in the ensuing melee keeper Kane was orderded off and others booked. Down to 10 men with 3 mins left all seemed lost but the ref was to still have more impact on the game. Dunipace were awarded a penalty with 2 mins left when a shot hit a Muireston player on the arm. Mikey Kane stepped up to score low into the keepers left.

With time running out Rutherford turned his marker in the box only to be brought down and as everyone screamed for another penalty the ref strolled up and awarded a free kick on the 18 yard line. The free kick was swung into the far post and was knocked back across goal to be slammed home by Stewart.

As The Wee Pace celebrated the ref unbelievably didn't allow the goal as he said he blew for full-time before the ball crossed the line. Both teams left the field of play shaking their heads in disbelief at the official whose handling of the game left a lot to be desired.

Regional Cup

STAR "A" CYP 1-1 DUNIPACE 19's (AET 3-4 Pens)

Scorers: Learmonth

This 3rd Round Regional Cup tie between the two sides saw another close game between the teams. Star "A" were looking for revenge after narrowly going out of the Scottish Cup to the Wee Pace. The game went ahead at Newtongrange on a heavy park which cut up as the game progressed.

The 1st 15mins. saw Dunipace take the game to the home team creating several good chances. The home team then got into the game and a net bound shot was turned over the cross bar by a finger tip save from Dean Henry. Both teams tried their best to adapt to the heavy park and chances were created at both ends. Halftime saw the teams go in scoreless.

The 2nd half restart saw the home team pushing Dunipace back resulting in several corners. One of the corners saw the wee pace clear off their goal line but the clearance dropped just outside the box and was pushed back into the penalty area where a Star "A" player collected the ball on the 6 yard box and placed into the net. The Wee Pace were fired up by going behind and started to make chances at the other end which resulted in good saves from there keeper. The breakthrough came in 70mins from a free kick from Scott Sutherland which was swung into the box and met by the head of Gary Sibbald. Garys header dropped into the 6 yard box and as it dropped it was met by Steven Learmonth who shot into the left hand corner of the net. Chances were created at both ends with the wee pace clearing from their goal line twice. At full time the teams were deadlocked at 1-1 and it was into extra time.

The 1st period of extra time saw Dunipace dominate with several chances to score from open play and corners but the finishing touch was lacking in most chances. Extra time came to an end with Dunipace defending 3 corners. When the final whistle came both teams had gave their all and put on a good show taking into consideration the trying conditions.

The tie was to be decided by penalty kicks and 1st up was Scott Sutherland who slotted the ball home to the keepers left. 2nd penalty saw Mikey Kane place the ball high into the top left of the goal. In goal for the wee pace was Dean Henry who has a good record in penalties and this came good again as he saved the next 2 penalties. Steven Learmonth stepped up to put Dunipace 3-1 up with a cool finish. Jason Gibson had the chance to win the match but the effort was well saved by the keeper. The final and deciding penalty was taking by David Moodie who calmly stepped up and chipped the ball into the centre of goal. A great result for the lads who had to dig deep for the win.

Scottish Cup

Dunipace 2-1 Tynecastle

Scorers: Moodie, Rutherford

The Wee Pace marched into the 4th round with a gutsy win over an experianced Tynecastle team. In the early exchanges the visitors were forcing the pace back but a long ball from defence cought them out and David Moodie was able to race clear and lob the keeper. TYynecastle hit back 10mins later with a cracking effort from 25yds that flew into the postage stamp corner. The game was going from end to end until a through ball from Dunipace wasn't cleared by their keeper and James Rutherford was able to slam the ball home from outside the box. The 2nd half saw the visitors start bright enough until the lads started to take the game to them. Efforts from Moodie (twice), Rutherford and Learmonth saw Dunipace coming close to scoring but they just couldn't find the net. The game came to a close with Tynecatle crossing to the far post and as their player lined up to head home David Kane managed to scramble across his goal and push the cross out for a corner. The Pace dealt with the corner comfortably and saw out the game. On another day we could have scored more goals but it was good to see the lads mostly dominate the 2nd half and it was the result that was most important as we moved into the 4th Round.

Scottish Cup

Steins 6 - 6 Dunipace (AET 7 - 7, Dunipace won 3-1 Penalties)

Scorers: Moodie (4), Sutherland, Kane, Gibson

Right lads where do I start with this one? Good goals, bad goals, penalty saves, howling winds and driving rain apart from that just a normal Sunday afternoon. The Wee Pace started the game well taking a 2 goal lead. The first came direct from a free kick near the halfway line which was struck by Scott Sutherland which deceived the keeper and bounced inside the box before going over his head. The 2nd came from a through ball from Sutherland which Moodie latched onto and scored inside the box. Steins pulled 1 back from a Penalty but the Pace hit back quickly with a goal from Moodie. Steins scored with 5 mins. of the half left only for the Wee Pace to score again with Moodie. Halftime 4-2 to the Pace. Second half saw the home team showing plenty of grit and determination taking the game to us. After 70mins they were 5-4 up and it was game on. Goals from Mikey Kane and Moodie put the Pace 6-5 up only to be pegged back. Extra time saw the Pace score with a Gibson penalty with 2 mins to go then Steins equalised with 1 minute left.It was straight to Penalties and both teams looked tired as the weather conditions and the excitement of the game took its toll. First penalty was scored coolly by Kev Tweedie. The 2nd by Mikey Kane was saved by the keeper diving to his right Greig Parkes then put the Paces 3rd penalty wide. Dean Henry was to be the Hero of the day with 3 Penalty saves from 4 attempts in the shootout . At the score 1-1 James Rutherford stepped up to put us 2-1 up. With Henry making his 3rd save in a row it was up to David Moodie to take the Paces last penalty which he dually obliged with. WOW!

Scottish Cup

EDINBURGH UTD. 0-1 DUNIPACE

Scorer: Moodie

Dunipace 19's were drawn away to Edinburgh Utd. with the tye being played at Peaties Road Edinburgh. On a blustery wet day both teams had to struggle with the elements as the game progressed. Dunipace started with the wind at their backs and dominated the first 20mins. creating a few good chances but it was the home team who came closest in the 1st half with a breakaway 30mins into the game when they broke down their left and saw the effort on goal shave past the far post. Half time saw the teams go in level and the wee pace had it all to do in the 2nd half as they faced strong winds and rain. Both teams put in maximum effort as chances fell to both teams but as time went on it looked like 1 goal would be enough for either team. The goal came for the wee pace with 4mins left when a ball was swept upfield and the opposition centre half slipped on the wet surface allowing David Moodie to latch onto the ball from 20yds out he took a couple of touches before bending his shot round the keeper. The wee pace held out till the final whistle and special mention must go to the defence as they kept their 4th straight clean sheet.

West Lothian League

Dunipace 5-0 Steins Thistle

Scorers: Moodie (2), Rutherford, Learmonth & Morris

It was back to league business for the pace after having a free week last week and they came back with a 5 star performance. The 1st half saw the visitors play some good passing moves but only creating 1 good scoring chance past a rock solid defence. At the other end chances were also created with David Moodie capping a fine debut by scoring 2 goals and linking up well with his strike partner James Rutherford. The Wee Pace went in at half time 2-0 up. The 2nd half saw the pace dominate most of the attacking and goals soon came through Learmonth who latched onto a loose ball inside the box to strike it into the net. Rutherford made it 4-0 with a driven shot from inside the box. Substitute Josh Morris netted the fifth when he was picked out with a good pass from Rutherford which freed Morris through the middle of the park and he finished well. More chances were to come but for 3 good saves from the Steins keeper the score could've been more. A good performance from the lads and plenty of positives to take into next Sundays County Cup game away to Bonnybridge.

Scottish Cup

Dunipace 0-0 Star 'A'

Extra Time Dunipace won 1-0

Scorers: Jason Gibson

A cracking Cup game with not much to choose between the teams during normal time. Wee Pace were reduced to 10 men in the 2nd half and this seemed to fire them up as they started to produce the best football from then on in. Extra time saw the visitors reduced to 10 men when Mikey Kane was chopped down on the edge of the box when baring down on goal. The best chance for the visitors came in the 1st period of extra time when a shot was net bound into the bottom corner only for David Kane to make a great save diving to his left. The Wee Pace had 3 or 4 good chances to score in extra time but couldnt find the net. Near the end a ball was played to James Rutherford who held the ball up well before slidding the ball through to Gibson who slotted the ball home from 6 yards out. The game ended with the lads defending a corner with their opponents sending everyone up for the corner which the lads dealt easily with. A hard game with credit going to Star 'A' who pushed us all the way. Every Pace player should be proud of their performance its games like these that are the making of good teams. Well played lads!

West Lothian League

Dunipace 1-6 Syngenta

Scorers: Gary Sibbald

After going a goal down inside 10mins. Dunipace came back well creating a few good chances in the 1st half. Gary Sibbald got the equaliser midway thro the half when a corner from Jason Gibson was met at the back of the box by Gary who showed good footwork before slotting the ball home, Half Time 1-1. Syngenta started the 2nd half well and were soon on the score sheet with a quick double. This seemed to knock the confidence fae the wee pace and they were always chasing the game after this. Syngenta scored another 3 goals when making full use of slack play from the lads and hitting us with quick counter attacks. A learning curve for us against a well run and good counter attacking team who are in their 2nd season at 19s.

West Lothian League

Livingston Utd 2 - 3 Dunipace

Scorers: Rutherford (2), Chisholm

First league game of the season turned into a real cracker with the wee pace scraping through with a late goal. First half seen us go into the break with a 2-0 scoreline. A fair reflections on chances created and it was looking like a game we would go on to dominate. First goal was a well crafted goal involving slick passing which was finished with James Rutherford slamming the ball home. 2nd goal came with more good passing moves which saw Darryl Chisholm slotting the ball home from close range. The 2nd half saw Livi score early from a corner which the defence didnt deal with and the ball was rammed home from close in. Game ebbed and flowed after this then Livi equalised with 15mins to go with a well worked goal after slack passing from defense. Winning goal from the lads came from a corner in the 87min swung into the middle of the box which was met with a Rutherford bullet header. A good game to start our season off with and plenty of fine performances throughout the team and we feel the best is yet to come from this squad.
