Following the poor 4 - 0 home defeat to Shettleston in the previous fixture manager Derek Barron made a number of changes to his side for this West of Scotland first round tie against Lesmahagow
In came Paul Tonner, Paul O'Brien, Ross Jackson and Sean McCafferty, with Chris Cairney, Michael Cullen and Michael McCafferty dropping to the bench. There was also a debut for youngster David Kane (from our under 19's side) in goal in the absence
of both Gary Strachan and Tam Meighan, David doing his chances of future involvement no harm at all with a solid and confident display between the sticks that will surely have filled both he and the management team with confidence in the talent in the
younger ranks of the club
Dunipace started the game well, passing the ball and moving the visitors around the park and managed to fashion a couple of decent chances before the opening goal was finally scored midway through the half. Paul O'Brien, surprisingly to the onlooking dugout,
shaped up to swing in a corner with his left foot that left many in the stands shaking their heads. The midfield man though duelly delivered a wonderful cross straight onto the head of the onrushing Graeme MacMillan who buried his header low into the corner for his first
of the season and indeed first for the Pace.

Lasmahagow came back into the game a little after this but Kane in the home goal looked assured whenever called upon, which in all honesty was very little thanks to good defensive work by the home side.
The second period started pretty much where the first had left off with Dunipace in the ascendancy, in particular Wright and Grant in midfield who were starting to see much more of the ball as the visitors tired. In fact, both came in for some pretty rough treatment but were big enough
to shake it off and do their talking with the ball.
And it was Wright who was to double the lead, collecting the ball on the left touchline and using the excellent dummy run of O'Brien to sell the defender inside, before beating another man and slamming the ball beyond the keeper from 18 yards. An excellent goal and no more than the Pace deserved.
At 2 - 0 up and comfortable in a cup tie, many teams would have been content to sit back and protect what they had, but Dunipace continued to press and at times committed too many players in attack leaving themselves open at the back and 5 minutes form the end this was to give them a more uncomfortable
closing to the game than perhaps should have been. On the counter attack the Lesmahagow forward found himself one on one with Kane who could do little about what was a very good finish.
Dunipace though held out for the win and will go into their next game full of confidence having got out of the little rut they had just found themsleves in.
