Central League: Second Division

Dunipace  Dunipace 6 - 0 Wishaw  Wishaw Juniors

Knowing that only 5 wins from their remaining 5 games would see Dunipace promoted the home side started in the sun at Westfield looking to finish the first of 5 quickly and went 2 up within the first 10 minutes.

Grant fired the home side ahead with a looping header at the back post followed by Rodger nipping infront of the keeper to turn home number 2.

Dunipace controlled the game completely throughout, with Meighan in the home goal left for the majority to stand in the sun and watch just like the rest of us. In truth, he could have been standing beside the rest of us given the home sides superiority in the tie.

Dunipace missed a number of good chances at the end of excellent passing footbal before the third finally came when Grant lashed home a bouncing ball from the penalty spot following a Pace corner.

This was quickly followed by a fourth for McIllduff when another good move released wright down the right flank and his cross found the big striker all on his own in the middle of the visitors box. McIllduff coolly took his touch and slotted beyond the outrushing keeper with ease.

With 4 goals in 6 league starts and a superb partnership forming between he and Rodger, Dunipace will hope McIllduff manages to stay clear of the injuries that have kept him out of the side for the better part of 2 seasons as the striker continues to prove why he is so highly regarded at Westfield.

4 - 0 at half time and in truth it could easily have been double that with the chances created and missed.

The second half saw Dunipace continue as in the first, creating (and missing) a hatful of chances before and after Rodger made it 5 - 0 with a neat finish.

With 60 minutes on the clock McIllduff was withdrawn with more important games in mind and the striker looked less than pleased to be leaving the sunshine such was he enjoying his day, but a sensible decision for a man who has been out for so long with 4 huge games coming up. Moffat slotted in beside Rodger up front and the pressure continued.

Marty Wright added a 6th soon after, latching onto a through ball before dinking the ball over the outrushing keepers head and calmly cushioning his header into the empty net, though I think it was closer to the post than he might have wanted!

Win number 1 from a required 5 and Dunipace will be delighted with both the result and the performance, such was the nature of the way the home side played.

A good team performance with some excellent individual performances, noteably Cairney, Grant and Wright in the central area. Just shading them though Rodger up front who was, as he has been most of the season, an absolute nightmare for the opposition defence to play against and got his reward with another 2 goals.

Had enough chances to score 6 right enough! But I'm sure he'll settle for the 2.
