Central League: Second Division

St Roch\'s  St Rochs 2 - 4 Dunipace  Dunipace

Another must win game for Dunipace but it looked for long spells as if it would be another disastrous trip to St Rochs, where Dunipaces' recent record is not great.

Despite some promising early play and a fantastic goal from McPhail, tapping home after an outrageous chip from McIllduff had come back off the bar, Dunipace never really got going on this tight park and found themselves 2 - 1 down approaching half time thanks to two fine finishes from the Roch forward that could have been prevented before getting to the frontman.

Rarely though is a half time talk unchanged by the scoring of a late goal and that's exactly what Michael Cullen, a standout performer on the night beside McIllduff, provided when his shot from distance bamboozled the home keeper and found it's way into the corner.

It proved to be just the spark Dunipace needed and they came out for the second half looking like a team who now knew what was at stake, with McIllduff causing all sorts of problems for the Roch defence.

And it was the front man who was to provide for a second time on the night, rising above two defenders to head the ball into the path of his strike partner Rodger who got his head in before the keeper to score off the underside of the bar.

And moments later, things definately seemed to be going the way of the visitors when Graeme MacMillan made an outstanding last man challenge on the St Rochs frontman having given him 5 yards of a start from the half way line and catching him just outside the area. There were complaints from the striker, but no-one else on his side as it was clear it was no more than a fantastic saving tackle from the stopper.

And with 5 minutes remaining Dunipace made sure of the points, McIllduff again the provider as he skipped beyond a tackle on the right wing and fired an unbeleivable ball across goal, never more or less than a foot off the turf, into the path of Ryan McCafferty who just had to make contact to ensure the points went home to Westfield.

3 Games and counting, with promotion on the cards and the league an outside bet should Blantyre or Perthsire slip up.
